The 21-kilometer-long Karasek cycle route in the Zittau Mountains Nature Park offers a special kind of experience in many ways. Along the route, cyclists can enjoy breathtaking views of Karasek's particularly scenic area on well-maintained paths. Numerous tourist attractions and many cultural highlights invite you to linger, making the trip a lasting memory for the whole family.

A good starting point for the 21-kilometer circular route through the Zittau Mountains is the town of Seifhennersdorf with its well-known Karasek Museum. The lovingly arranged museum tells, among other things, the story of the robber captain Karasek, who caused trouble in this region.

You cycle along beautiful meadows and past heaps that remind of the mining times of the Polier slate extraction to Spitzkunnersdorf. Beautifully preserved half-timbered houses shape the village scene as well as countless hiking trails, including to the "Großer Stein", also called "Goethekopf", or the Spitzberg. Upon arriving in Leutersdorf, you will be reminded of the Karasek era in an original way at the "Oberkretscham". In 1800, Karasek was interrogated here after his arrest before being imprisoned in Bautzen fortress prison.

On the way back to your starting point, you pass the children's recreation center "Querxenland" and the forest and adventure pool "Silberteich" before reaching the Mandau valley and the venerable oil mill. Robber captain Karasek had permanent guest rights here.
