The Mandau cycle route leads you for about 47 kilometers from the source of the Mandau in Brtníky (Zeidler) to the mouth into the Neiße at Zittau. The route always runs along the river and charmingly connects two countries – the Czech Republic and Germany. Along the way, you will encounter fairy-tale villages, lively towns, and a varied river landscape that unfolds its special charm in every season.

Whether you undertake the route alone, with friends or the whole family – the Mandau cycle route offers the perfect experience for all cycling enthusiasts: idyllic natural sections, cultural discoveries, and endless cycling fun. At the destination in Zittau, you have the opportunity to seamlessly continue your journey on the Oder-Neiße cycle path and cycle all the way to the Baltic Sea.

Directions

Start at 50.94786, 14.44191 (Brtníky/Zeidler). You initially follow the Mandau eastwards through the valley. After about 5 km, continue heading east; the route stays close to the river and mostly on flat sections.

Between km 10–15, turn slightly to east-southeast – here short waves alternate with flat stretches. From km 15–20, it goes mostly southeast; you stay close to the river and pass through smaller village zones.

From km 20–25, the direction remains southeast, leading through longer, quiet valley sections. Km 25–30 continues southeast to south-southeast; here the path typically follows the river with few changes in direction.

From km 30–35, you keep south-southeast before the route from km 35–40 shifts back slightly to east-southeast – ideal for smooth rolling. The last section from km 40–46 turns east again and takes you swiftly to the destination.

Finish at the Neiße in Zittau at 50.88946, 14.82353 – here you can seamlessly switch to the Oder-Neiße cycle route.

Character: mostly river-adjacent, with gentle waves; well suited as a day stage for beginners, families, and leisure cyclists.
