Directions
From the parking lot below the zoo, you hike along soft forest paths alongside the Otterbach stream. The first section of the trail runs along the Niederfischbach mining trail. Along the way, you will discover small works of art by a local chainsaw carver in the form of an owl bench, squirrel and green man. The light shimmers through the branches of the deciduous trees lining the path, while the Otterbach babbles to your right. The route runs through more forest passages and leads to a large crossroads. Along the way, you will be impressed by fascinating hollow sections that lead through meter-high rock faces. The route continues to the Fischbacher Werk, a former iron ore and lead ore mine that was still in operation until 1902.
At the level of the factory site, which is criss-crossed by many small paths, the path takes a detour and now runs downhill on the opposite side of the Otterbach stream. You will soon reach a barbecue area with play equipment for children. Here you can take a short break. Behind the barbecue area, another walk begins on a beautiful forest path through the woods. Shortly after passing a small pond, the landscape opens up - a lush green meadow accompanies you on your way. Once you reach the sports field, your destination is already within sight. After the hike, a visit to the zoo is well worthwhile.
