- Destination: Oase beer garden, Altstadtstaße 7, Versmold
The circular hiking trail in the south of Versmold starts in the town center at the "Oase" beer garden in Altstadtstraße 7. From there, it leads into the "Versmolder Bruch" nature reserve, which is an ideal habitat for rare meadow birds with its extensive meadows and pastures between the Ziegenbach, Hessel and Aabach streams. An observation plateau enables the observation of endangered bird species whose extinction has been successfully prevented here. Amphibians, dragonflies and storks have also made the Versmolder Bruch their home.
The hiking trail is supplemented by a small loop, the nature trail. This leads visitors almost 3 km through the nature reserve and provides information about the valuable flora and fauna on information boards.
Back at the starting point of the route, hikers will find various places to stop for refreshments in the town center as well as cultural sights such as the sausage fountain and St. Peter's Church on the market square.
Follow the "Kiwittsheider Rundweg" signpost, the trail is marked in both directions. At the starting point, also pay attention to the markings on the ground.
Please note that the hiking trail leads through a nature reserve and never leave the marked paths. The Versmolder Bruch is a nature reserve and serves to preserve the communities and habitats of wild plant and animal species, especially endangered waders and meadow birds.
