This particularly scenic route begins with the descent from Kriebstein Castle. You cross the Zschopau river over a suspension bridge and walk long stretches on forest paths or along the river through the Saxon Burgenland.

The trail leads along forest paths, along the river and along small village roads. On this hike, you can enjoy the view over the Kriebstein dam as well as historic half-timbered buildings such as the Lochmühle mill. You walk along the banks of the Zschopau river until you come across the ruins of a robber's castle in Ringethal. The route runs through small villages to the town of Mittweida. As late as 1535, 73 Protestant citizens were forced to leave the town. It was not until 1537 that Duchess Elisabeth of Saxony introduced the Reformation here too.

Directions

At Kriebstein Castle, the trail begins with a descent to the south, where you cross the river and then continue on forest paths in a southerly direction, always following the route marked with a green "L" on a white background. After a longer section in the forest, the path meets Waldheimer Straße, which you leave in a southerly direction and continue south until you reach Lochmühlenstraße. Follow this until you reach Lochmühle. From here, the trail continues to meander along the river, past the Kriebstein dam, the villages of Weilberg and Falkenhain and Ringethal. Below the village of Ringethal, a bridge crosses the river at Weinberger Straße. From there, the trail continues along the other bank of the river. The trail leads through Mittweida's town park into the town center, along Waldheimer Straße, past the market and ends on Kirchberg at the town church.
