Directions

From the spa town of Gohrisch, the Muselweg, the Jagdsteig, the Königsweg and the Alte Schulweg lead you to Pfaffendorf. You climb through the narrow eye of a needle, a steep ascent over wooden and iron stairs, the Pfaffenstein. Via the Klammweg you hike down towards Quirl. At the sports field Pfaffendorf the Malerweg leads you to Königstein. You pass the town church and walk along the Latzweg to the foot of the Königstein Fortress. For a visit to the fortress you should plan 2 hours extra. You will cross the village, pass an old castle as well as the Malerweg chapel at the Alexander-Thiele lookout and hike along the edge of the forest to Weißig.

Hiking with the dog: A barrier is formed by the comparatively steep, step-rich and sometimes narrow Pfaffenstein ascent through the eye of the needle (Nadelöhr), which also includes climbing iron ladders. Here, hikers with dogs should better choose the comfortable ascent, which also includes stone and wooden steps, but no ladders and is not as steep.
