Castles, palaces and regional highlights invite you to take a break along the way.

Directions

The Münsterland Gravel-Transversale starts in Haltern am See and first leads along the reservoir and through the natural Olfener Stever floodplain. The route continues in a relaxed manner to the three-castle town of Lüdinghausen, where several impressive buildings invite you to take a break. The route continues along the Stever, accompanied by the Dortmund-Ems Canal, to Senden. There begins a scenic section with fine gravel that leads to Appelhülsen.

From here, the sporty part begins: a climb takes you to the highest point in Münsterland around the Longinus Tower. The reward is an impressive panoramic view over the Baumberge. The route then descends via Havixbeck to the historic centre of Münster. With its promenade, old town and harbour, the city offers numerous opportunities for a break.

From the eastern edge of the city, the route continues northwards along the River Werse. Greven is reached via the wooded Bockholter Berge and through the Ems floodplain landscape. After a few kilometres along the Ems, the route leads via Saerbeck to the southern edge of the Teutoburg Forest. The final ascent there is a sporty finish before the tour ends at the railway station in Lengerich.
