Natursteig Sieg | Etappe 02 | Hennef–Stadt Blankenberg

From Hennef, you cross the Sieg via the access road and reach the main trail on a steep meadow path - after which you set off on a varied route. On well-maintained country lanes, the route constantly alternates between forests, panoramic heights, stream valleys and agricultural land. You leave the ridge on a narrow path and climb steeply down through a ravine to the outskirts of Bröl and along the beautiful Brölbach stream to the Müschmühle mill. The mixed forest, which is rich in springs, is home to a wide variety of tree species, ferns and grasses in a colorful mix. As soon as you leave the forest, a panoramic view opens up over the Siegtal valley and as far as the Siebengebirge mountains. This magnificent view takes you gently downhill to just before Oberhalberg and on to Honscheid, where the small chapel catches the eye. Up to the Stachelberg, the view of the Sieg meandering through its valley is fantastic! Finally, follow a wonderful path alongside rocks along the banks of the Sieg and through Auel with its pretty half-timbered houses to the town of Blankenberg.

You can reach Hennef station via the A3 Cologne-Frankfurt. At the Bonn/Siegburg junction, take the A 560 towards Hennef

A detour to the Marienwallfahrtskirche Bödingen pilgrimage church and a visit to the arts and crafts shop next to the Steiner Mühle mill in Hennef-Stein are well worthwhile. Extra tip: If you walk from Hennef-Stein in the direction of Hennef, you have the opportunity to enjoy a well-earned rest in Hennef with a visit to a restaurant.
