The approximately 1.8-kilometre-long Pader walk starts at the Abdinghof church and leads through the western Pader spring area, where the Pader water emerges in the spring basins of the Börnepader, the Dammpader and the Warme Pader. The "Washerwoman's Monument" is a reminder that the women of Paderborn used to wash their clothes here. A little further on is the functional model of the waterworks.
The Reineke mill, which is still in operation, and the former Schwarzendahl mill are located on Mühlenstraße. The Inselspitzenweg leads to the former Pesthaus and Stümpel's Mill with its mill café.At Masperplatz, the PaderHalle building catches the eye. In front of it is the Masper Tower, one of the former town towers. Behind the PaderHalle is the Haxthausen Garden with the Paderborn heart graffiti. The route continues through the eastern Pader spring area and from there past St. Bartholomew's Chapel, the Imperial Palace and the large cathedral tower via Am Abdinghof street back to the starting point.Waypoints

Directions
The Pader walk begins at the twin-towered Abdinghof church, which has towered over the western source district of the Pader for around a thousand years. We first follow the "PaderWanderung" signposts to the PaderHalle:
We descend the stairs. At the bottom, we keep left and walk directly along the source basin of the Börnepader. Then we turn right into the Jenny-Aloni-Weg, which leads us in gentle curves through the western Pader spring area. The green area, designed by garden architect Rudolf Reuter in the 1950s, is now a protected garden monument. On the left we see the spring basin of the Dammpader, behind it the bronze monument to the washerwomen on the Warm Pader. On the right, we can see the functional model of the Wasserkunst, which was erected in 2017. It is a reminder of the Wasserkunst, a piping system that supplied the higher-lying city center with water via pumping stations and fountains, the so-called "Kümpen".
At the Hotel zur Mühle, we come to Mühlenstraße. On the opposite side of the street is the former Schwarzendahl Mill from around 1870, which is now home to the Gaucho restaurant. Around 50 meters further on to the right, we see the Reineke mill, which is still in operation today and uses the water power of the Pader river to grind grain. It is the last of the many mills that used to be located within the old town.
To continue our walk, however, we turn left at the Hotel zur Mühle, cross the bridge and turn right before the Paderborner Brauhaus into Inselspitzenweg, and thus into the middle Pader spring area, which was redesigned in 2019. The narrow path crosses the Pader arm several times, which here already consists of the Börne, Damm and Warmer Pader rivers. We enjoy the views over the beautiful area.
We reach a fork in the path. Straight ahead, we see the Stümpelsche Mühle mill with the mill café, whose mill wheel still turns today and now generates electricity. On the left we see the former plague house. We turn right, cross the small bridge and keep straight on at the next junction. At the end of the path, we see the main entrance to the PaderHalle on our right. On the left is the smallest of the Pader spring basins, the Maspernpader.
Contrary to the signs on the "PaderWanderung", we now walk past the main entrance to the PaderHalle and shortly afterwards past the Maspern Tower, one of the medieval town towers. On the left we see the Maspernplatz, Paderborn's largest city center parking lot, on the right the building of the Sparkasse Paderborn-Detmold. We turn right at the Maspern Tower and reach the Haxthausen Garden behind the PaderHalle, which offers lovely places to linger. Here we also discover the large Paderborn heart graffiti. We leave the Haxthausen Garden through the old archway and reach Mühlenstraße. Now we turn diagonally left into the street "Auif den Dielen", which takes us into the eastern Pader spring area to the Dielenpader spring basin. Here we enjoy the fantastic view of the cathedral and the Kaiserpfalz before climbing up the steps past the Kaiserpfalz towards the cathedral. We pass two old fountains along the way.
At the top in front of the cathedral, we keep right. After a few meters, we not only see the entrance to the imperial palace, but also the bronze entrance door of the medieval Bartholomew Chapel, which is known for its wonderful acoustics.
Walking past the foundation walls of Charlemagne's palace on the right and Paderborn Cathedral on the left, we reach a paved square. Here we keep straight ahead and follow the street Am Abdinghof to our starting point, the Abdinghof Church.
