- Start: Parish hall/ School Boke
Explore the town in the south of Delbrück, which has around 2600 inhabitants and whose roots go back to the Middle Ages. Boke was a seat of nobility for several centuries. Boke Castle, built in 1354 by Bernd von Hörde at the Lippe crossing, was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War.
In the immediate vicinity of the starting point of the tour, the newly built parish hall, is the St. Landolinus Church of Boke, which is considered to be the mother church and probably the oldest church in the Delbrücker Land. Not only its furnishings are remarkable, but also the fact that St. Landolinus Church is one of the oldest daughter churches of Paderborn Cathedral. The relics of Abbot Landolin from Crespin in France were transferred to Boke in 836 AD at the request of Bishop Badurad of Paderborn.
The construction of the west tower, central nave and the two side aisles of this Romanesque vaulted basilica dates back to around 1180. The Romanesque style was retained when the transept and choir bay with apse were added in 1890/91. Finally, the west portal of the quarry stone building was added in 1921. During an interior renovation in 1961, parts of the Romanesque wall and vault paintings were uncovered. The interior of the church contains a baptismal font from the 13th century, a Pieta from around 1430, the sandstone relief "Christ in the tomb" from around 1560 and the shrine with the mortal remains of St. Landolinus.
Now start your approximately 20-kilometre circular route through and around the Lippe village of Boke. Follow the signposts to reach the remains of an early medieval refuge castle, the Hünenburg.
Continue through the Barbruch, via the road Auf den Röthen, into the Heitwinkel, where there are numerous old farms. Ride along Boker Straße for a while and you will reach the settlement of Ringboke, a former castle complex with a dense population. It was the noble seat of the Lords of Hörde and later the seat of the Boke district administration. The ramparts are still visible today.
Nearby is the memorial and a baroque wayside shrine, the Lazarus Shrine. The memorial is a monument to the fallen of the world wars with the Annaglocke, the bell of the former castle chapel.About the Untereichen road, along the Mantinghauser road and the Hudeweg, you will reach the Neue Reihe, along which there are several lake landscapes. Enjoy the natural surroundings and stop for a picnic along the way. Pass the biotope on the Hengsterberg and return via the Diebeskämpen towards the center of Boke. At the Diebeskämpen, a playground invites families with children to take a breather.
At the end of your tour, indulge in the local gastronomy in one of the inns or restaurants.
