- Destination: S-Bahn stop Rosbach (Sieg), Marktstraße, 51570 Windeck-Rosbach
Note: Due to water body development measures in Windeck-Stromberg, there may be temporary restrictions on the Sieg bike path until the end of July.
From Eitorf, it's not far to Stromberg. Here, it’s worth unpacking your swimsuit because several spots in front of the railway bridge invite you to swim and a canoe may also be launched officially here. Continue cycling to Herchen. Just before the station, the Waldhaus Herchen lies on a hill above the Sieg bend. Families are warmly welcomed as overnight guests here. In the spa park café of the state-recognized resort, delicious cakes lure, and it also houses a hostel. Children can pedal boat and play mini golf in the immediate neighborhood.
On the further way towards Windeck, you pass the small village of Hoppengarten. Directly on the L 333 between Hoppengarten and Roßel is a small bathing area popular with families. From there, it is not far to Dattenfeld. A small detour to the Dattenfeld leisure park with a nice natural playground for kids to romp around is worthwhile. Another swimming option not far from a rapid is located along the route at a Sieg bend in Dreisel.
Then you reach Schladern again with powerful pedaling; here there is a waterfall with a drop of 4 meters over several steps and a total width of 84 meters. Directly at the waterfall is a beer garden, situated on the former site of the Elmore copper works.
At the end of this last stage, you can take the train, or you can stay at the Windeck-Rosbach youth hostel. It is surrounded by the largest contiguous forest area in the region and is a perfect place for nature lovers and little forest explorers to linger. If you want to ride a bit further, the Panarbora youth hostel in Waldbröl probably has a bed free for you and you can even climb a treetop path there. You can reach the hostel from Schaldern via junction 25 on the Panarbora bike path, which however has numerous climbs.

Directions
The further route to the destination is just how you imagine an ideal river bike path. Without interruption, you leisurely roll directly along the riverbank and nothing disturbs the view over the lush green meadows stretching along the river bends. On the opposite Sieg side, dense mixed forests climb the steep mountain slopes and it almost seems as if they form the natural frame for the river scenery.
Passing Herchen station, it is about 1.5 km to the town. Here and shortly afterwards at the Sieg bend near Röcklingen, the river is crossed twice each time. After passing the S-Bahn stop on the outskirts of Wilberhofen, the paved path runs to Dreisel, the destination of this route. For the return journey by train, there are two options: either from the S-Bahn stop Dattenfeld in the Wilberhofen district or from the station in Schladern about 3 km away. In this case, a steep climb of about 70 meters in elevation must still be managed on the way. As a reward, a visit to the Sieg waterfall and the impressive castle ruin in Windeck Schladern awaits you.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author
From Schladern, you can make a detour to the nearby Open-Air Museum Village Altwindeck. In a school building from 1900, old items on two floors invite you to browse. An original "corner shop" lets you experience where people shopped before the era of supermarkets. Two more half-timbered houses, a barn, two mills, and a museum garden complement the offer. You can also go directly to the museum from Dattenfeld. Afterwards, you return to Schladern running parallel to the railway, saving yourself the climb but missing Dreisel.
