The exhibition ANDERWELT shows bereaved people together with their dead.
In Celtic mythology, the Otherworld or Otherworld is the realm of the dead. But these dead are not in a distant afterlife, but in this world -
just on a different level. And the boundaries are permeable. When someone dies, they are not simply gone.
The Hanoverian photographer and poet Bert Strebe has photographed the bereaved with their deceased. The camera cannot see the dead. But they are recognizable in the faces of the bereaved, in their eyes, their posture, in their gestures.
"The pictures provide deep insights into wounded or healing souls. And they show what connects the bereaved with the deceased beyond death."
