Der Grönenbergpark erstrahlt in neuem Glanz

A lot has happened in Grönenbergpark since the groundbreaking ceremony in March 2025: As part of the “City, Countryside, River—Adventure and Recreation Along the Else” project, our green heart in downtown Melle has been redesigned with climate resilience in mind. New play areas for young and old, a forest playground, a grove with a bocce court and picnic areas, redesigned paths, and climate-adapted plantings already invite visitors to linger.

This was made possible by a grant of approximately 3 million euros from the federal program “Adaptation of Urban and Rural Areas to Climate Change”—with total investments of about 3.8 million euros. This also includes the restoration of the Strotbach stream near the Wellenfreibad, which creates new habitats for animals and plants and further enhances local recreational opportunities.

Construction work was completed in May 2026. We don’t want to celebrate this milestone alone: We cordially invite all residents to join us in celebrating the project’s completion.

On August 21, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., a varied stage program awaits you at Grönenbergpark.
