Culinary oasis in the Cologne Flora

A garden restaurant designed entirely for outdoor dining, yet one that combines culinary precision with an airy, relaxed atmosphere, has found its own unique identity at Flora Köln. Since 2013, Dank Augusta has been evolving in a space that allows for only a kitchen in the basement and has no indoor seating—a setting that has demanded creativity and courage. The idea for a picnic concept arose from this unique spatial arrangement: a bag filled with fresh, homemade food and drinks serves as the starting point for a personalized break on the spacious south terrace of the Botanical Garden.

Picnic Culture in an Urban Green Space

The picnic bag is assembled at the bar and filled with savory and sweet dishes that are freshly prepared and vary depending on the season. Salads or soups in jars, coffee, cake, or a light evening meal can be flexibly combined. The garden café is thus open for various times of the day: for a quick lunch break, an afternoon of coffee and cake, or a relaxed after-work gathering until sunset.

A Place for Mindful Breaks

Sitting on the terrace, surrounded by the garden’s flora, offers a peaceful view of the interplay between urban daily life and the botanical surroundings. The barrier-free accessibility and the deliberately simple dining concept make the venue an inviting spot for unhurried enjoyment.
