The Griesweiher has become a real hidden gem for those seeking relaxation and nature lovers. Nestled in an idyllic landscape, it offers peace, relaxation and a chance to experience nature all at once – a perfect destination for visitors from near and far.
Not only the surroundings, but also the pond itself has undergone an impressive transformation: today it is a valuable habitat for numerous native species. The clear waters are teeming with fish ranging from eels to zander, as well as crayfish and freshwater mussels. The birdlife is also a delight: with a bit of luck, you can spot wild ducks, coots, moorhens, grey herons and even the rare kingfisher here.
The ‘Ins Frohnsbachtal’ circular walking trail runs right alongside the pond. The mostly shaded path leads pleasantly through the forest and is an ideal way to spend some time in nature, especially on warm days. Along the way, the Griesweiher and the Sägeweiher invite you to take a relaxing break.
The Triebscheider Hof’s beer garden and the Fischerhütte provide a cosy spot to stop for a drink – perfect for rounding off the day in style. Please note the respective opening hours.
With just two gentle inclines, the route is also ideal for families with children. Those wishing to explore further can extend the walk towards the Würzbacher Weiher or the Geistkircher Hof.
