The history of Hamm's
Hamm was the nickname of Herbert “Hamm” Steuer, the father of owner Ralf Steuer.
Herbert was introduced to “Hamm” by his father Herrmann, who used to go to “Hamm's Mühle” in Nalbach to do carpentry work. Little Herbert, who always enjoyed working on the old mill site, was also there.
After the work was done, a mill was quickly rebuilt in his parents' carpenter's workshop in Lebacherstrasse in Saarwellingen and little Herbert played the miller “Hamm”. Thus his nickname “Hamm” was born and with it the name of the restaurant!
