Restaurant "Zur Windmühle", Görlitz OT Kunnerwitz
Around 1806, a windmill was built at the south-western end of the village. The first owner of this mill was the miller Johann Christoph Tzschanter. The trestle windmill, which had suffered from the turmoil of war and storm damage, was demolished as early as 1891. Today, only a plaque at the entrance reminds us of the old mill site, which has been a popular excursion destination for decades. The innkeeper even wrote a poem about the mill on an old picture postcard.
It was in the old days,
it was a long time ago,
the Kunnerwitz mill,
grinding was often difficult.
Just as everything is fleeting
in this beautiful world,
the mill here was smashed to pieces in a stormy night
.
And when you go outside,
practice honesty and loyalty
and drink your glass of beer here.
