Trekking camps in Saarschleifenland

From the starting point in Perl to Wadern, nature-loving hikers can experience the unspoiled forest overnight at our five “Nature Campgrounds” while hiking the Saar-Hunsrück Climb. Just the thing for all adventurous hikers and nature lovers who want to legally spend the night in the forest with a tent and backpack. The campgrounds combine natural comfort with a rugged hiking vacation. On the Saar-Hunsrück Climb, which has been certified by the German Hiking Institute in Marburg with 68 adventure points, making it the highest-rated long-distance hiking trail in Europe, hikers can combine their vacation with special overnight stays and experience stages 1-6 of the climb in Saarschleifenland to the fullest. It is possible to connect to the Saar-Hunsrück Climb to the Trekking Camps in the Hunsrück Hochwald National Park. The distance to the “Keltenlager” camp is approx. 32 km.
BOOKING & ORGANIZATION
Overnight stays in the wild nature of the Saarschleifenland are only allowed in these camps. The trekking camps are open from April 1 to October 31 and must be booked online in advance. After a successful booking, you will receive the gpx coordinates for the respective location, the code for the toilet house, a booking confirmation and the user regulations by email.
Each camp has two tent sites. A tent site can be occupied by up to two people. Only one overnight stay is allowed per camp. The camps are located away from the villages, hidden in nature and can only be reached on foot. They are not signposted. You have to bring your own water and food.
A tent site costs €15. The entire campground can be booked for €30.
The “Römerlager” camp is located near the Roman villa in Borg. The campground can be reached via the wine-growing village of Perl to Hellendorf, with wide views of the Germany-Luxembourg-France border triangle and the archaeological park of the Roman Villa Borg. It is the first stop on the Saar-Hunsrück Climb.
