Haus Kreienhoop has always been a welcoming place. The foundation is committed to continuing this tradition, which Walter Kempowski and his wife Hildegard established themselves during their lifetimes through seminars, authors’ gatherings, and many other events.

Nartum is located 49 km from Bremen and 80 km from Hamburg.
By car:
Follow the A 1 in the direction of Bockel and take the B 71 in the direction of Zeven. After a few kilometers, you will come to a T-junction that leads to Nartum on the left.
Once in the village, turn into the first street (Nordstraße) behind the pizzeria and follow it until you reach "Zum Röhrberg". The house is on the right-hand side of this street.
By public transportation:
There are numerous bus connections to Zeven. From there you can take a cab to Nartum. You can find information at www.vbn.de.
Parking is available in front of the property and on the street.
By car:

Important: The public part of the house is barrier-free. However, the house does not have a wheelchair-accessible toilet.

With a group of at least two people, you can contact us by e-mail and let us know your preferred date. Once the date has been confirmed, payment will be made in advance and you will receive confirmation of your binding registration.
Arrival:
You arrive independently at Haus Kreienhoop at the agreed time, park your car on the street or in the courtyard and will probably be greeted first by the curious chickens.
The afternoon:
After an extensive coffee and cake fortification, the reading begins at Haus Kreienhoop. One of the tour guides, an author friend or a surprise guest will read. A discussion is possible after the reading. A tour of the house and archive is also offered.
Be inspired by the secrets and playful furnishings of the house.
Further activities:
The reading at Kreienhoop House can also be perfectly combined with a relaxing hike on the approx. 12 km long NORDPFAD "Kempowskis Idylle". You hike along beautiful paths through woods, moorland, across fields and, of course, through Nartum. Get to know the late writer's place of residence and the beautiful surroundings around the village.
Would you like to follow in the writer's footsteps a little longer? Then why not visit the Königin-Christinen-Haus in Zeven or the Kempowski Archive in Rostock, his birthplace. Manuscripts, among other things, can be viewed in a permanent exhibition. Further information: www.kempowski-stiftung.de
