Barthels Hof (Hainstraße)

Retail
The historic building complex runs from Marktplatz to Kleine Fleischergasse and is one of the most striking buildings in Leipzig's city center.
Barthels Hof is one of the most important sights in Leipzig and was built between 1747 and 1750 by the Leipzig merchant Gottlieb Barthel. It is the last surviving trading yard from the time of the 18th century goods fair. In the inner courtyard, you can see the crane beams with which the goods were pulled up into the warehouse at the time.

The characteristic neo-baroque street façade and the wide courtyard passageway were added during a renovation in 1870 and 1871. Since then, the Renaissance bay window has also been located in the courtyard, which is considered the oldest fragment of a Leipzig townhouse façade.
