- The town has one of the three oldest bells in Germany, dthe "Theopilus Bell". It was purchased by the Fredelsloh monastery and was initially located in the old chapel on the former monastery and later noble estate within the village, which was demolished in 1781. Today the bell is located in the ridge turret of the cemetery chapel. The bell dates from the 12th century and bears the inscription: IN HONOR(eE) S(an)C(t)E TRInITATIS ET I. Translated: In honor of the Holy Trinity and ...).
- The horse on the coat of arms of Edemissen refers to horse breeding. Edemissen used to be home to Celler stallions and a riding club is still based in the town today. The ears symbolize the good loess-loamy soil of the region, on which particularly heavy grain grows.
