.
The design of the pirate playground is based on the idea that pirates once ran aground on Salzgittersee. Their ship ran aground and broke into three pieces. The stern lies close to the water, the mast with its crow’s nest towers over this area, and the bow points steeply upward. A large dune was reinforced with a sturdy fence made of thick planks. A two-level slide tower was built on top of it. A slide tube, measuring 11 meters in length with a height difference of 5.50 meters, is the most attractive piece of playground equipment. Additional play structures are located between the ship and the beach soccer field. Sand and water play areas were designed for younger children, and there is a climbing area for toddlers. Since the summer of 2020, free Wi-Fi has been available around the lake under the name “freeWIFISalzgitter.”
