The Scharnebecker Inselsee, an idyllic lake on the Elbe Lateral Canal, is characterised by its excellent water quality. Access is free of charge, and at weekends the DLRG guarantees the safety of bathers. A sandy beach in a bathing bay and a spacious sunbathing lawn surrounded by shady trees invite you to linger. The lake also has a nudist area, barbecue areas, toilets and a kiosk with refreshments. Access is easy via a tarmac road with ample parking facilities. The Inselsee was originally created as a quarry pond during the construction of the Elbe Lateral Canal. From the sandy beach, you can enjoy a picturesque view of the hilly Geestrand and the famous boat lift, the outstanding sight of the joint municipality of Scharnebeck.
