The Rodderberg is the youngest volcano in the Drachenfels region. The still well-recognizable ring consists of tuff rock and scoria. Due to the tuff soils, the Rodderberg forms a so-called heat island. Rare, heat-loving animal and plant species live here, which are otherwise more common in Southern Europe.

A nature experience is guaranteed on the 3.2 km circular trail along the crater rim of the Rodderberg. Particularly striking are the many butterflies. At the eastern crater rim stand the bizarre-looking pollarded beeches. To the north, the 'Heinrichs View' opens up a magnificent view of the Rhine Valley and the Siebengebirge.
