Digital cycle tour to the Werre-Weser-Kuss with attractive highlights along the way

On the approximately 60 km long cycle route, cyclists ride through the gently undulating Lipperberge mountains and nature reserves between the spa town of Bad Salzuflen, the artwork town of Vlotho on the Weser and the town of Löhne.

One of the most popular river cycle paths in Germany, the Weser cycle path, the GOP Varieté Theater in the sophisticated former spa town of Bad Oeynhausen and the charming course of the River Werre to its mouth at the famous Werre-Weser-Kuss are among the highlights of the cycle tour.
A worthwhile detour takes cyclists to an idyllic farm café on the edge of the Füllenbruch nature reserve before they reach the Hanseatic town of Herford.

En route, secluded resting places, farm cafés and viewpoints await for a break and to observe nature.

The Glimketal nature reserve between Bad Salzuflen and Vlotho

You cycle through the hilly Lippe region on quiet side and back roads - partly on the historic border between Prussia and the Principality of Lippe. Cyclists get to know the cultivated fields of the Lippe granary, the vegetable growing area and the meandering river landscape in the Glimketal valley.

Work of artCity of Vlotho

In Vlotho, you will encounter "art in passing", on electricity boxes, on the cycle path, as sculptures, such as the guardian on the church square, or on house facades. The cafés in the city center and the boat harbour on the Weser are popular places to take a break from cycling.

Weser Cycle Path

The Weser Cycle Path has repeatedly been ranked first in terms of popularity according to the ADFC's cycle tour analysis. Find out for yourself how the well-developed cycle route along the Weser takes you to the Bad Oeynhausen district of Rehme and the famous Werre-Weser-Kuss. Rest areas, good signposting, cafés and beer gardens, an interesting river landscape for observing water birds and other animal species are among the highlights of the Weser cycle path.

Werre-Weser-Kuss

Cyclists like to take a break at the mouth in the Oeynhausen district of Rehme and watch the Werre flow into the Weser from the Werre-Weser-Kuss bridge.

The Werre rises near Horn-Bad Meinberg and flows into Bad Oeynhausen-Rehme after around 72 km. The Werre flows through meadows and the wildlife can be easily observed from the accompanying cycle path. The Werre also flows through the Bad Salzuflen vacation region and travelers can cycle along the river on well-developed cycle paths. Beautiful rest areas and farm cafés await cyclists.

The spa town of Bad Oeynhausen

Cycle paths branch off from the Weser cycle path several times into the historic old town, to the spa gardens or the famous, magnificent neo-baroque building of the GOP Varieté Theater in the former Kurhaus. In the middle of the center is also the well-connected train station to regional and long-distance transport, surrounded by inviting cafés, restaurants and shopping opportunities.

F Füllenbruch nature reserve with a stop at the garden café

The Düsedieksbach stream runs through the Füllenbruch nature reserve. Along the stream you will find green, damp meadows that are cultivated as grassland. They particularly attract animal species that need a damp habitat. Resting places along the way invite you to observe the rare gibbits and other animal species. The well-maintained cycle path on the former Enger - Herford narrow-gauge railway line leads through the Füllenbruch. We cycle along this path from the Düsediekerbäumer garden café to the Hanseatic town of Herford

Hanseatic town of Herford

In Herford, the cycle path leads past the famous Marta Museum. The Marta Museum on the River Aa, designed by star architect Frank Gehry, was opened in May 2005 to great acclaim. Some of the stations in the museum raise questions about the here and now, while others combine humor and creativity with science.

The cyclist first follows the Aa before returning to Bad Salzuflen after a few meters along the Werre. Waterfowl can be observed on the banks of the river all year round. Canoeists also use the Werre on beautiful summer days for an exciting excursion on the water.

Gradierwerke Bad Salzuflen: time to take a deep breath

In Bad Salzuflen, low-traffic roads take us through the historic old town with its magnificent Weser Renaissance buildings back to the starting point at the Kurgastzentrum, located directly at the graduation works.

Three sophisticated graduation towers invite you to take a deep breath before and after your cycle tour. Brine trickles over the blackthorn walls and atomizes into the finest aerosols. Inside the graduation house, there is a walk-in brine mist chamber with brine nebulization. From the viewing platform, guests can enjoy a fantastic panoramic view of the spa gardens, the concert hall, the clock tower with graduation tower and the spa guest center. The huge open-air inhalatorium in the middle of the allergy-friendly town is appreciated by vacation guests, day tourists and residents alike.
