  • Destination: Dohna marketplace

The start of the circular route is the Dohna marketplace. Via Gut Gamig and Röhrsdorf, the path goes through apple orchards to the Lugturm with views of the Saxon Switzerland and Dresden.

The start of the twelve-kilometer-long circular route is the historic marketplace in Dohna. From here, it goes uphill to Gut Gamig, a former knight's estate, now a rehabilitation and meeting place with its own farm shop. The route leads via Röhrsdorf through apple orchards further to the Lugturm, whose beer garden invites you to rest on weekends. From here, the view on a clear day reaches to the table mountains of Saxon Switzerland and into the Elbe valley towards Dresden. The return path to Dohna again runs through an apple orchard.

Directions

From Dohna market we walk towards the lower town and cross the Müglitz over the new pedestrian bridge. From here it goes uphill to Gut Gamig, a former knight's estate, now used as a rehabilitation and meeting place with its own farm shop. After looking around here, we continue through the small Grüdel towards Röhrsdorf. On reaching the playground, a break is recommended. The route continues through the plantation to Wölkau combined with a stop at the beer garden at the Lugturm (Note: this is only open on weekends!). After the refreshment, we walk through the apple orchard over the Meuscha further towards Dohna. After crossing the motorway, it goes past the sports field back towards the market. On this hike, we always have the church of Gamig as well as Dohna in view. In clear weather, the view also reaches to the Saxon Switzerland with its table mountains and down into the Elbe valley towards Dresden.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

The hike is especially beautiful during the apple blossom. Then the trees of the apple orchards show themselves in their greatest splendor.
