Floodplain hiking trail

The Auenwanderweg in Lauenburg leads along the Lauenburg Elbe foreland nature reserve. This is part of the transnational biosphere reserve "Flusslandschaft Elbe". It leads along the shallow water areas of the Elbe. The near-natural floodplain is home to animals that are dependent on this special environment and have found a home here again after several years, such as otters and beavers. The floodplain hiking trail offers intact nature close to the city and the opportunity to observe many rare animals and plants.
