Wallenburg is an old castle site, first mentioned under the name 'Waldenburg'. At that time, Hohenwaldeck above Lake Schliersee, today only a ruin, was still the seat of the knights. After several fires and subsequent reconstruction, the castle experienced the most magnificent design of its architectural history under the last Count of Hohenwaldeck - Maxlrain. When he died deeply in debt in 1734 and the county fell to the Electorate of Bavaria, Wallenburg remained in the possession of the heiresses but was used exclusively to secure creditors. Under Baron von Gumppenberg-Pöttmes and his successor Bermühler, the Wallenburg estate with its brewery became a popular excursion destination for the citizens of Miesbach.
For years, organic-biological cultivation has been common in the Wallenburg estate's nursery, and the farm's own products can be purchased both in a farm shop and at the farmers' market every Thursday at the Miesbach marketplace.
