The hiking route leads from the historic old town of Torgau with its cultural and historical sights such as the impressive Hartenfels Castle, the Renaissance-style town hall, and the magnificent patrician houses to the Große Teich pond located south of the town. This pond was artificially created in 1483 as a fish pond and still serves this purpose today. As a European bird protection area, the largest pond in Saxony makes an important contribution to environmental and nature conservation. The Biberhof, an educational center for nature and the environment with a permanent exhibition on local wildlife, is a worthwhile excursion tip.
