A perfect starting point for the Sauerland High Route is the Birkenbrauck parking lot. Exactly there the hiking taxi (Saturday & Sunday, only for holders of the Schmallenberger Sauerland Card) brings you free of charge. Hike along the Sauerland High Route, accompanied by beautiful nature. The hiking taxi starts at the bus station in the town center of Eslohe, parking spaces are available here.
- Start: Saturdays at 11:00 am and Sundays at 10:00 am at the bus station in Eslohe
- Registration for the hiking taxi: no later than 5:00 pm the day before at Taxi Fabri under 02973 / 81414. Please also register dogs.
- Destination: The hiking taxi brings you to the Birkenbrauck parking lot. From there you hike back to Niedersalwey
- For guests with Schmallenberger Sauerland Card: 2,- € for adults, 1,- € for children

From the parking lot, follow the yellow hiking sign of the Sauerland High Route (SHF) uphill. Take a short detour (observe signs) to the highest point, the Homertspitze, and enjoy the wide view. Continue walking along the SHF until it makes a turn to the left, here continue straight on the Esloher Grenzgänger. At a fork in the path (small shelter) turn right onto the S4 hiking trail, which now (partly steep) leads downhill towards Niedersalwey through spruce and beech forest. Enjoy the view of the beautiful Salwey valley.

The hiking taxi (Saturday & Sunday, for holders of a valid Schmallenberger Sauerland Card) starts at the bus station in Eslohe and drives via the intermediate stops Niedersalwey and Obersalwey to the Birkenbrauck parking lot.
For this hike, get on the hiking taxi in Niedersalwey. From Birkenbrauck you hike back to Niedersalwey in just under 6 km.
Leave your car at your accommodation in Niedersalwey and use the hiking taxi to the Birkenbrauck parking lot.
For guests with a valid Schmallenberger Sauerland Card, bus travel in public transport is free of charge.
