Hawerland is the name for the harmonious, rolling landscape between the Sauerländer villages Schmallenberg and Bracht, Berghausen and Werpe. For ages, people have settled this beautiful, original region. It is claimed that as early as the Stone Age, 2800 BC, there was a prehistoric cult site in Wormbach. What is certain, however, is that around 800 AD the original parish of the Sauerland was consecrated here. More archaic customs and traditions have survived in this area than might be apparent from the down-to-earth residents; here every stone can tell stories of thousands of years of settlement. Embark on a journey into the past, hike the ancient death roads of Soest, Landenbeck, and Fleckenberg. Let yourself be enchanted by the ever-present remains of the rich Sauerland myth culture and the beautiful nature.
