Obergurig circular hiking trail

A good starting point for the circular hiking trail in Obergurig is the bus stop “Singwitz – village”. From here, head initially southwards over the Spree along Steinbruchweg, until after about 1.2 kilometers you reach the village pond in the district of Schwarznaußlitz. Then follow Arnsdorfer Straße westward until after about 0.9 kilometers you turn south onto a small field path. Then you walk 1.7 kilometers through the Bärwald forest and subsequently reach the “Schöne Aussicht” guesthouse in Sora.

After a short break, continue eastwards along a meadow and forest path until after about 2.5 kilometers you reach the “Jägerhaus” guesthouse. Here you can also admire the “Pumphut” figure and the historic triangular boundary stone.

Heading further eastwards, continue about 0.6 kilometers up the Mönchswalder Berg. At the top, there is an observation tower from which you can enjoy breathtaking views. From here, walk eastwards down the mountain along a small forest path until after about 1.5 kilometers you reach the Lehn district.

You cross through the Lehn district along Großpostwitzer Straße, cross a railway crossing, and finally reach the Spree. Then follow the Spree bank westwards. Next, head northwards past a allotment garden, over a parking lot, and continue up Siedlungsweg to Hainitzer Straße in the Großdöbschütz district. After 1.3 kilometers, you reach Kirschweg.

Along this field and meadow path, continue to the Neuboblitz group of houses and reach the connecting road to Bautzen. After crossing the railway bridge, turn towards Singwitz. At this point, you have covered another 2.8 kilometers. Now head westwards to the “Doberschauer Schanze”, leaving it south of you and continuing down into the Spree valley. On a picturesque hiking path, walk upstream along the river back to Singwitz.

After about 2.4 kilometers, you arrive back at your starting point, the “Singwitz – village” bus stop. This approximately 15-kilometer circular hike reveals green meadows and fields, cool forests, and a large number of historical highlights.
