This short, scenic tour runs along the Zschopau River, past Lichtenwalde Castle, and offers a beautiful, compact hike with nature, a magnificent view, and connects three of the artworks of the PURPLE PATH art and sculpture trail.

The tour can be started at Lichtenwalde Castle and Park. In the courtyard of the castle is the first artwork of the PURPLE PATH, "Usagi Greeting." From the castle park, a rather inconspicuous path leads down from the castle circular path into the idyllic Zschopau Valley.

Once down, the route follows the course of the Zschopau and leads downstream to the wooden arch bridge near Braunsdorf. After crossing the bridge, the two other artworks await: "My Floating Home," which appears to float on the water of the Zschopau, as well as "Mapping Patterns" on the facade of the Schauweberei.

On the opposite side of the river, the return path runs again along the Zschopau and finally leads back up to Lichtenwalde Castle and Park.

The PURPLE PATH project:

The PURPLE PATH is a gigantic outdoor art and sculpture trail around Chemnitz, Central Saxony, the Ore Mountains, and reaching to Zwickau, featuring more than 60 contemporary artworks.
