Shortly before Adorf, the ridge trail splits into two variants.
The official route leads on natural paths, partly with beautiful wide views, around Adorf.
The variant described here is signed as an "Alternative" cultural route that leads directly through the town of Adorf, where a visit to the Perlmutter Adventure Museum, reopening in September 2025, or a detour to the botanical garden and the miniature exhibition "Little Vogtland" is worthwhile.

Directions
The large signpost opposite the hiking and cross-country ski house at the Vogtlandbahn, Holiday Park stop, is the starting point of your hike. The ridge trail runs on a path slightly below the tracks of the Vogtlandbahn. When the path meets the local road Schöneck – Markneukirchen, follow the forest path towards Wohlbach. A few meters further on, you have a remarkable view of the hill landscape of the Vogtland. After two kilometers through the forest past the Färberlöcher, described on an information board, the ridge trail leads you to a clearing. Now begins a very varied section of the path with a magnificent view of the village Gunzen. Enjoying the view, you mostly hike slightly downhill to the parish forest. Down towards Wohlbach, a brook babbles along the way, and you can see the first houses of the village. You are welcome to take a look into the medieval church of the village before it goes uphill again towards Hermsgrün. Always walking a little above the small village, you have wonderful views of this agriculturally shaped place. Then follows a forest hike towards Adorf in Vogtland. The ridge trail takes you past the town’s train station towards the city center. You cross the federal road B92 and the White Elster. The river originates near Asch/Czech Republic and flows into the Saale in Halle. Slightly uphill, the ridge trail runs parallel past the city center and marketplace. A visit to the Perlmutter Adventure Museum, newly opened in 2025 and offering much exciting information about the freshwater pearl mussel, is worthwhile. On the educational and hiking trail Zeidelweidetal, follow the ridge trail into the Tetterwein Valley. Here you can get an impression of the renaturation of a once extensively farmed valley. Shortly after the Vogtland Panorama Trail turns off, the ridge trail follows an overgrown path to a private property and leads you further to the customs houses before Gettengrün, a "stone’s throw" from Bohemia. On the way to and through Gettengrün, you will be accompanied by unique panoramic views. Gettengrün is also the birthplace of the cartoonist Erich Ohser, known under the pseudonym "e.o.plauen". Before reaching his birthplace with memorial plaque, you pass through the varied village of Gettengrün. Then a forest path leads uphill to Eichigt, which welcomes you with a natural swimming pool. The Obereichigt bus stop on the main road is your stage destination.
