Directions

Hardly started at ErlebnisWald, things get serious. The longest and toughest climb comes right at the beginning of the route. To the Steinborn forester’s lodge, the path gently ascends along an asphalt road; from Steinborn it gets increasingly steeper on a gravel road. After about four kilometers, you reach the highest point of the route at 482m above sea level. Then it goes downhill, first on the same gravel road, shortly before Neuhaus continuing on a single trail where you’ll get a bit shaken. Shortly after, you reach Neuhaus in the heart of the Solling.
From there, it continues flat to gently ascending. Enjoy the view of the Ahlewiesen meadows and the hills of Hochsolling. A partly somewhat tricky descent takes you down to Amelith and through open meadow landscapes further to Nienover with its castle and the so-called Hutewald project. This project studies the impact of grazing animals on forest development.
From Nienover to Schönhagen, you have to cross a small mountain ridge. After the descent, you’ll need to muster your strength again in Schönhagen to manage the last climb to ErlebnisWald. If you really don’t feel like climbing here in Schönhagen, you can detour on a "normal" bike path to ErlebnisWald and treat yourself to some early relaxation at the bathing lake there.
