An entertaining circular route of 20 kilometers through the Lommatzscher Pflege, leading to the impressive seat of the former Schleinitz nobility - the Schleinitz Castle.
The eponymous town of the region, Lommatzsch, is the start and end point of the circular route, which connects landscape as well as history and culture in a short time. Already at the starting point, the historic market of the town, there is something worth seeing. The impressive town hall, the Wenceslas Church and the local museum shape the town centre. But also one of the most famous sons of the town, Terence Hill, is honored with the Terence Hill Museum in the centre.
The route leads out of town and directly into the scenic region with small streets and country paths through the villages in the surroundings. A first stop is worthwhile in Neckanitz at the community centre, where a magnificent half-timbered house can be admired and a museum of rural customs invites you to linger.
Typical for the region are the hills that you have to climb by bike. So the first part of the route always leads slightly uphill. This also offers the opportunity to enjoy great views over the fields. There is also a triangulation pillar uphill at Schleinitz height - it is part of a historical survey that took place in Saxony over almost 30 years at the end of the 19th century.
You now roll downhill towards the community of Schleinitz, which houses the historic Schleinitz Castle in the centre. This seat of the nobility was built as early as the end of the 15th century, but has been repeatedly rebuilt over the following centuries. Today, features of various stylistic epochs can be seen. The local museum, the craftsman's courtyard and the chapel are also worth seeing.
Afterwards, the tour leads back northeast, via the village of Leuben, where the Marienkirche and a former railway viaduct can be discovered.
In the Ketzerbach valley you pass the villages of Wahnitz and Mertitz with the former fork of the narrow-gauge railway. In Zöthain at the double bridge, the confluence of Käbschützer Bach and Ketzerbach, the former "country road to the post road" leads uphill and together with the "Lommatzsch circular route" back to Lommatzsch.

Directions
The start of the route is in the centre of Lommatzsch directly at the market. Then it goes along Döbelner Straße southwards to the roundabout, which is left directly at the first exit to continue on the main road. Directly after the roundabout first right and then immediately left onto Jessener Straße and through the village of Jessen. Always along the Kreppritzbach over the Plattenweg the tour now leads to Neckanitz, where you first turn left and then immediately right again to reach the community and half-timbered house.
The route then leads left at "Drei Linden" and uphill all the time. Here drive straight on for over a kilometre to the 3rd street junction. There again keep left and cross the main road to follow the country path straight ahead. On the right hand side a triangulation point can be seen after about 400 m at Schleinitz height. After about 3.5 km on the country path, the route turns right and follows the signposts downhill to Schleinitz. In the town centre the castle is on the right side. Then first right and immediately left again, pass through the village of Perba, follow Auenstraße along Schleinitzbach straight ahead to get to Leuben via the country path and Schleinitzer Straße. In the village turn left onto Lommatzscher Straße, pass the church and after the sports ground turn right, follow the street to cross the viaduct.
You continue straight on through Wahnitz to Mertitz to the S85, where you turn left. Immediately afterwards again right towards Zöthain. In Zöthain turn sharp left onto the first street (Zöthainer Straße) to get straight back to Lommatzsch to the starting point.
