- Start: Lößnitzgrundbahn station Moritzburg
- Destination: Lößnitzgrundbahn station Moritzburg
The Moritzburg train station is both the start and end point of this circular route. Here, the "Lößnitzdackel," a historic steam locomotive that can be seen and heard from a distance, runs several times daily. The route leads clockwise out of Moritzburg, crosses the old district Eisenberg, and then guides directly onto the first nature trails in the namesake, gently rolling small hill landscape as well as the extensive forest and pond areas. This allows for exciting stops inviting nature observations, as many animal species like grey herons, cormorants, and even sea eagles are native here.
Thanks to the gentle elevations of the landscape, beautiful views over the region with its villages Bärwalde, Berbisdorf, and Bärnsdorf, which are also passed through on the route, are repeatedly offered. Worth seeing are the church in Bärwalde and the water castle in Berbisdorf.
In Bärnsdorf, the tracks of the Lößnitzgrundbahn are crossed again, and the Bärnsdorf fish farming is discovered, which is responsible for breeding fish in the 22 ponds around Moritzburg. Fish can be purchased in the farm shop.
The next tour highlights are directly located at the Moritzburg large pond - at the end of the 18th century, the "lake festivals" of the Saxon court took place here, where historic naval battles were reenacted. Part of the scenery was the lighthouse, which is still a popular excursion destination today. Also worth visiting is the Pheasant Castle. Nearby are various restaurants, beer gardens, and cafés inviting you to refresh yourself.
Just a few meters further is the Churfürstliche Waldschänke, which houses a restaurant in a historic setting.
The route then continues through the forest area until it leads back into the center of Moritzburg. Here, there is a view of the famous Moritzburg Castle, which you should definitely visit. Numerous other dining establishments can also be found here. After a few minutes, the route then reaches the starting point at the Moritzburg Lößnitzgrundbahn station again.
Note: In wet weather, the forest and field path sections may have poor surface quality.

Directions
The route is a circular route starting and ending at the Lößnitzgrundbahn station in Moritzburg. It crosses Schlossallee up to Kötzschenbrodaer Straße, which is crossed to enter Meißner Weg. This natural path now leads towards Friedewald, which is reached after crossing the S80 Auer-Moritzburg. Continue along the forest path to the "Lower Old Pond" and then continue northward.
At the next intersection, turn right to head towards Bärwalde. In the village, go straight ahead, pass the church, and continue on the side street to Berbisdorf. Shortly before the entrance to the village, turn right to go onto "Am Schlosspark." Immediately at the water castle, turn right again into the small street, then continue straight on the cycle path along the main road to Bärnsdorf.
In the village, after about 100 meters, turn right onto Cunnersdorfer Straße and after the small settlement, turn right again towards Großteichdamm. After the dam, turn left towards Churfürstliche Waldschänke. Here, turn left again onto Kleine Fasanenstraße to return to Moritzburg. From there, take August-Bebel-Straße and Bahnhofstraße back to the starting point.
