Auerbach's cellar

With his drama "Faust", Johann Wolfgang von Goethe created a important monument to the Auerbachs Keller. The historic inn consists of the "Großer Keller" restaurant, which serves classic, hearty Saxon cuisine, the "Mephisto Bar", which entices guests with cocktails and live music, and the "Historische Weinstuben", which can be visited on the "In the Footsteps of Goethe and Faust" tour or booked by groups of 20 people or more for special events in the four lovingly restored guest rooms. The "Barrel Cellar Ceremony Anno Domini 1525" takes you into the "Historic Barrel Cellar", where wine was once served and which is still the heart of Auerbach's cellar today. This guided tour with ceremony and barrel ride has become legendary. Theater dinners from the perspective of historical personalities such as "Kein Lotterleben" or "Die Luthers privat" also promise entertaining hours in a special ambience and with very good cuisine. Auerbachs Keller also has plenty in store for younger guests. There are changing tables in the ladies' and men's toilets, high chairs and bibs for the little ones. For older children, Auerbachs Keller offers pencils, puzzles and a children's menu. There is also an elevator and space for buggies in the anteroom of the restaurant.
