Coffee house Riquet
The former commercial building was built in 1908 and 1909 on behalf of Riquet & Co. and was one of the most modern and original new buildings in Leipzig at the time. The two copper-driven elephant heads flanking the entrance door to the coffee house are the trademark of the Riquet company. Since its restoration, you can once again admire the listed interior of the corner store in all its beauty.
Unfortunately, none of the more than thirty coffee houses that once existed in Leipzig still exist. That is why the Riquet has been trying to revive the Leipzig coffee house tradition since 1996. With the Leipziger Lerche, the Kaffee Riquet, the Elefantenkaffee and the Pharisäer, real specialties are offered here.
