A double win: The ingredients come from farms that prioritize environmental and social sustainability. The company employs people who are struggling with addiction.
At first glance, you might simply mistake the Bio-Bistro for a charming, light-filled café in the heart of Sachsenhausen that also has a summer terrace. A place where you can go for coffee or pick a lunch dish from the daily changing menu, whose ingredients are not only certified organic but also, in some cases, grown on the farm itself. That’s because the café is part of the “Fleckenbühlern,” a group that runs an ecological and socially responsible farm in Cölbe-Schönstadt near Marburg, as well as an organic bakery in Frankfurt-Niederrad.
But that’s not the whole story: Behind the “Fleckenbühlern” is also a self-help community of people who have struggled with addiction, who now work together and support one another—and others—in leading drug-free lives.
