The business has been family-owned since 1919. Old recipes and handed-down traditions are very important, but the company is still open to new ideas.

The gourmet journal "Der Feinschmecker" said of the Teichgut-Schänke: "One of the best fish restaurants in Germany". Eel, trout, pike, carp, tench and zander come from the 50-hectare ponds. Healthy, naturally reared fish have made the Teichgut-Schänke a national name for quality food and stocked fish. Even celebrities have been entertained at the Teichgut-Schänke. The guest books of the house, guarded like a treasure by the Nabein family, contain names that almost everyone in the world knows.
