Zum Goldenen Löwen (Restaurant Akropolis)

An inn "Zum Goldenen Löwen" stood on the same site in the 17th century, which was demolished in 1909. A little further north, Gottlob Käppler had the building that still stands today erected. In addition to a beer hall and ballroom, it also housed a ballroom and a bowling alley. The other rooms were already apartments at the time. The "Löwe" became famous throughout the region for its variety shows, balls, parties and concerts. The first party conference of the Saxon SPD was held here in October 1945.

During the GDR era, the restaurant was a HO restaurant, which was closed after reunification. Flooding in 2002 damaged the ballroom so badly that it was demolished in 2004. In 2009, an investor had the building renovated. The downsized restaurant was reopened in 2011.

After changing ownership several times, the Greek restaurant "Akropolis" is now located in the "Löwen". The beer garden on the Weißeritz river is charming. The hall can be hired for parties of up to 60 people.
