- Start: Parking lot on Carl-Thieme-Straße in Freital-Potschappel. Of course, the tour can also be started at any other point and can be walked in both directions.
- Destination: in each case as the starting point
There were once several vineyards on the slopes to the north of today's Freital, which are still recognizable as such today. We pass these as well as the vineyard newly planted in 1986 - the highest in Saxony. Otherwise, we hike through a landscape that is characterized by fruit growing and agriculture, but also reveals traces of early industrial coal mining. In between, there are numerous magnificent views of the Döhlen basin and the Windberg massif. From the former winery in Pesterwitz, you can even see as far as the Osterzgebirge mountains and Saxon Switzerland on a clear day. In between, several small and cozy country inns invite you to linger. If the tour is too long for you, you can also take a shortcut after about halfway and "save" the second part for another day.

Directions
We start our hike at the parking lot on Carl-Thieme-Straße, opposite the Norma supermarket. From here, we follow the green line and trail no. 8 up into the forest at Jochhöh. At a small spring (approx. 100 meters to the left of the path, signposted "Schafborn"), two benches and fresh, cool water invite you to take your first break. After another 500 meters uphill, we reach the Jochhöhschlösschen, on whose now wooded southern slope there was once a vineyard. Built in 1795, the baroque castle now houses owner-occupied apartments. Following the road for one kilometer, we reach the center of Pesterwitz. Every year on the third weekend in September, a wine festival is held here, where people dance and celebrate with music and fine wines in the grounds of the renovated manor and on the Pesterwitz vineyard. After the listed St. James Church, where concerts are regularly held in Pesterwitz, we briefly leave the Green Line and continue right along No. 8 to the "An der Winzerei" vantage point. From here, we have a beautiful view of 100-year-old Freital and, in good weather, as far as the Osterzgebirge mountains and Saxon Switzerland. After a few meters we meet the green line again. We continue across the meadows along the Almabach stream to Kohlsdorf. At some point on the road "Zum Hammerbach" there is a chainsaw-carved bench that invites you to linger. Following the hiking signs no. 8, we pass the "Wurgwitzer Scheune" cultural and association center after a kilometer, later cross the main road to Kesselsdorf and after a while reach the Niederhermsdorfer Hof, where you can enjoy a refreshment stop.
From there, the route continues in the direction of Wurgwitz. Shortly after crossing Kesselsdorfer Straße, we turn right onto the cycle and hiking trail (Edgar-Rudolph-Weg) and follow the yellow dot markings. After passing the Bombastuswerke, founded in 1904, we leave the yellow dot after a further 1.5 kilometers and follow only No. 8 to the left. Once we reach Burgwartstraße, we follow it for a final kilometer until we arrive back at the starting point.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author
In summer, a wine tavern is open on the Pesterwitz vineyard at weekends, where you can enjoy the local wine with a wonderful view.
