- Start: Parking lot on Carl-Thieme-Straße in Freital-Potschappel. Of course, the route can also be started at any other point and walked in both directions.
- Destination: Each like the starting point
There used to be several vineyards on the slopes north of present-day Freital, which are still recognizable as such today. We pass these as well as the vineyard newly established in 1986 – the highest in Saxony. Otherwise, we explore a landscape shaped by fruit growing and agriculture, but also revealing traces of early industrial coal mining. Along the way, there are many wonderful views of the Döhlener Basin and the Windberg massif. From the former winery in Pesterwitz, one can even see to the Eastern Ore Mountains and the Saxon Switzerland on clear days. Several small and cozy country inns invite you to linger. If the route is too long for you, you can also take a shortcut after about halfway and save the second part for another day.
