The 9.5-hectare BernsteinSee, which is up to 16 meters deep, is located in Sassenburg-Stüde near Gifhorn on a traffic-calmed private area directly on the Elbe side canal in a picturesque forest, heath and moor landscape.
The lake has a large bathing beach with fine-grained sand. It offers very clear water all year round and is a particularly clean body of water according to regular official tests. The lake water shimmers turquoise due to the sandy subsoil. Showers, toilets and beach ashtrays are available free of charge for bathers. A separate beach club with shaded areas and sun loungers (subject to availability) also offers a good view of the water ski facility.
