Blue Pike (Nikolaistraße)

Retail
The passage is unmistakable due to the distinctive house sign. A blue pike is depicted above the entrance.
Blauer Hecht is the name of a commercial building in Leipzig's city center. The former fur trade house is connected to Reichsstraße via a passageway and is a listed building.

Built in 1911/1912, it got its animal name from the former Leipzig inn "Zum Blauen Hecht". The house sign with a blue pike at the entrance to the arcade still bears witness to this today.

The façade of the building is clad in limestone, with pillars featuring capitals in the shape of animal heads. The figurative elements refer to the smoked goods traded at the trade fair.
