Church Oelsa

Church

"Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" Matthew 11:28

This saying above the door has been inviting people into the church in Oelsa for over nine decades.

The church was consecrated on the 1st Advent, December 2, 1928. The interior of the church is simple. The altar and baptismal font are made of sandstone. The organ sits enthroned on the gallery and the stained glass windows stand out as a splash of color. The two front windows depict the evangelists Luke and Mark, created by the Dresden glass painter Josef Goller. A large crucifix stands on the altar between two candlesticks. Since 1 Advent 2013, a large, colorful and impressive painting of the Resurrection, donated to the Oelsa church by the Dresden artist Eberhard von der Erde, has hung above the altar. The Oelsa church has seating for over 300 people. Why not pay us a visit? If you would like to follow the friendly invitation above the main portal, you are very welcome! The Oelsa cemetery is located opposite the church behind the Oelsa elementary school.
