Exhalle - Oldenburgisches Staatstheater

The Exhalle has been home to two stages, each of which can seat around 100 spectators, since 2008. It is the Oldenburg State Theatre's venue for modern theatre forms and performances as well as for festivals such as the annual Youth Theatre Days.

History of the hall

It was originally built in 1879 as part of the barracks at Pferdemarkt. The 91st Infantry Regiment was stationed here, used the Pferdemarkt as a parade ground and trained in the parade hall. In 1930, the military gave up the site and a carpet retailer moved into the hall, which then served as a warehouse and salesroom until 2005.
