The Icker Loch is one of 8 sinkholes in the Osnabrück region that are registered as natural monuments
Sinkholes are the result of millions of years of geological formation and transformation. The Icker Loch was formed on 22.04.1782 in the middle of the country road from Osnabrück to Hunteburg. After "violent noises" beneath the earth's surface, a hole with a diameter of 15 m formed, which immediately filled with groundwater. After two months, it had a diameter of 34 m and was already 40 m deep. Display boards provide information about the formation of sinkholes;
