Mountain church St. Marien Eilenburg
The first Marian chapel was built on this site, at the gates to the Burgward, as early as 940. The extension to a three-nave late Gothic hall church began in 1516 and ended at the height of the Reformation in 1522. Martin Luther is documented to have preached here several times during his numerous visits - in 1522, 1536 and 1545. The interior of the church dates mainly from the first half of the 17th century. The historically valuable and remarkably large Conrad Geißler organ, with a neo-Gothic façade, which was installed here in 1864 and is still played at concerts and church services today, is also worth experiencing.
