The early Romanesque fieldstone church of St. Viti is the oldest church of its kind between the Elbe and Weser rivers and is dedicated to St. Vitus. It was built in 961 as part of the women's convent that was established there and functioned as a women's monastery. The convent was then moved to Zeven in 1141.
Originally, the church had a round tower. In 1897, the church was given a square, neo-Gothic brick tower. Worth seeing inside the church are the late Gothic winged altar from the 14th century, the pulpit and the baptismal font.
The church belongs to the Evangelical-Lutheran parish of Heeslingen.
